The White Rice setting cooks rice as a traditional rice cooker would, using only steam. The Flex function allows you to use the unit as a pressure cooker or traditional stockpot. Update 3 (June 19, 2020)I finally received a perfect, working unit from Zavor. I cannot really complain about their customer service during this process as they were quite responsive to my concerns and sent out units until we received one that satisfied us. The new unit works as expected and again lives up to its reputation. I can now happily add that Zavor's customer service matches what you should expect from such a high-quality product. 5-stars from me, to now include the customer service experience.Update 2 (June 11, 2020)After much back-and-forth with the Zavor rep, I finally received a replacement unit today. We opened it up and turned it on and it worked! But it was DENTED!!! I will be sending the old, broken unit back tomorrow (thankfully, they provided a pre-paid shipping label for us). But we will be requesting yet another unit to replace this DENTED one. Because the unit actually works, I'm still only going give it 2-stars because I now have to deal with a DENTED unit. I will likely give it more stars once this gets resolved. Until it does...2-stars. I know Zavor can do better. Keep posted.Update 1 (June 5, 2020)I got a response from a Zavor representative via e-mail yesterday. She asked me for information regarding me and the defective unit (i.e., registration info, invoice, photos of unit and serial number, etc.), which I promptly sent. Have not received any response yet. I never heard of Zavor before, so I had no clue about that company's reputation. But the rave reviews for the LUX LCD (ZELL02) persuaded me to purchase it back in April of this year (2020). It worked as expected and did wonderfully. I even went to Zavor's website and purchased another stainless steel pot. All the reviews regarding how well performs were spot on.Then, just yesterday (June 3, 2020), it just stopped working. No sign of life whatsoever. No beeps, lights, noise, nothing. I went to the Zavor website to troubleshoot. It recommended plugging in the cord properly, which of course I did numerous times. I even used other outlets. Still nothing.I called the Zavor phone number listed on the Warranty Info and was told that any repairs, service, or replacements are "temporarily delayed."Bummer.So, for now, I can only give this product what it deserves: 1 Star. It should actually be zeros stars but there is no option for that.I will hopefully provide the product with more stars and a more favorable review when the product actually works again, but that, of course, will have to be "temporarily delayed."Not difficult to use or clean. Really glad that I bought it!!--UPDATE 7/31/2020--After contacting Zavor regarding the unreadable display once the pot got hot, and sending them photos documenting the problem, Zavor shipped us a replacement unit at no charge, which we have now used twice. The new unit's display works fine even when the pot is hot, so apparently our first unit was defective. Kudos to Zavor for exceptionally good customer service! We still find the interface difficult to navigate and understand, but the instruction manual is pretty clear and the unit does have a very wide variety of cooking capabilities, so as long as you are willing to keep the manual handy, this appliance can help you make some interesting and tasty dishes.Original review:We have used the pot for a little over a year now. The biggest frustration with the Zavor is that the process to setup the pot to perform a desired cooking job is incredibly convoluted and easy to fail. Clearly this product never went through usability testing, because it has NONE. To accomplish any particular job, it requires a careful process of pushing buttons, rotating the knob, pushing the knob, etc., over and over, in a precise order. Make one mistake and you must start over. NOT user friendly at all, although it seems to have a wide range of capabilities.Worse, they have chosen to use what appears to be a STN LCD panel for the display. That means you must bend over to view the display directly head-on in order to clearly see it. In addition, once the pot heats up, our timer digits become completely unreadable (see the accompanying photo), so you never know how much time is left for the cooking. I strongly recommend you choose a different pressure cooker - the field of instant pots is large enough there should be one that has good features AND is usable. This Zavor is only useful as a door stop. Unfortunately, the warranty is limited, and despite the display being a design failure, we can no longer return or repair ours - a very costly mistake on our part. DON'T BUY THIS. FIND SOME OTHER COOKER. Grrr.Huge. Can’t find a bigger more veritable cooker. To many functions to list. Love the flex temp setting for sauce as well as pressure cooking functions. Great value. But the IronBuddy Pressure Cooker Float Valve seals. Teflon seal fell off when I forced the lid off. Can’t say enough good things about the size, functions, quality and value. Make sure you hit the start button after you select function and set timer.
